Visiting Allentown for the weekend for a wedding and found this gem. The wife and I came in for lunch and were very impressed with quality of the food. The hummus is delicate and light in an elegant way that will redefine your definition of what hummus should be. We went for the chicken shawarma and chicken kebab, and the flavors were right yet not overwhelming, all the ingredients came together beautifully, show how much care they put in making the dishes here. Flavor is king here, no unnecessary presentation, every side is impressive on its own, and complemented the rest of the meal nicely. Tom, a well mannered and well traveled owner helped us and we had a nice conversation about places and food, great service.

Just had an amazing meal at Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine and I had to share! The food was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I ordered the cheese cigars, chicken kebab and lamb kebab, and both were cooked perfectly — juicy, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The service made the experience even better. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. The owner also came by to check on us and was so welcoming and personable, which really made the place feel warm and inviting. If you're looking for authentic Mediterranean food with great service and a welcoming atmosphere, I definitely recommend checking out Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine. We’ll absolutely be coming back!

We’re from Connecticut and came to the Allentown area for a Spartan Race at Blue Mountain Ski Resort. After a long drive, the three of us were starving and wanted something healthy. Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine had great reviews, so we decided to give it a try—and we’re so glad we did. We arrived around 5:30 PM, and the restaurant was already busy. The phone was ringing constantly with takeout orders, which is always a good sign. The husband and wife owners greeted us warmly, seated us right away, and brought complimentary water while we looked over the menu. We started with the hummus and pita along with the cheese cigars. Both were outstanding. We were told the hummus is made from fresh chickpeas that are slowly cooked rather than canned, and you can absolutely taste the difference. It was incredibly smooth, creamy, and easily some of the best hummus I’ve ever had. The fresh pita was the perfect complement. Two people in our group ordered the chicken kebabs with rice and the fresh tomato, cucumber, and red onion salad. I ordered the chicken shawarma with rice. It was my first time having authentic chicken shawarma, and it was phenomenal. Everything was seasoned perfectly, fresh, and full of flavor. I honestly can’t imagine how anyone could leave a negative review after eating here. From the moment we walked in until the time we left, the food, service, and hospitality were exceptional. If we weren’t racing the next morning, I definitely would have tried one of their cheesecakes. The blueberry and pistachio both looked incredible, and judging by the quality of everything else, I’m sure they would have been just as amazing. Before we left, we spent a few minutes talking with the husband, and it only reinforced how much pride they take in what they do. Allentown is lucky to have a restaurant like this. We have nothing comparable where we’re from in Connecticut, and if we lived nearby, this would become a regular stop without question.

They specialize in authentic Middle Eastern food, and the taste was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The service was honestly the best I’ve ever experienced. My friend brought me here for lunch because it is one of her favorite restaurants. It is obvious why. Super-clean, delicious authentic food, and the proprietors TRULY CARE about your dining experience. I had the spanakopita and it was amazing! It had the most delicate fresh dill flavor and was served with a side of perfectly-marinated olives. So, so delicious! The hummus appetizer was so smooth and creamy, as well. You will not be disappointed!

Not your average Mediterranean fair. Definitely a step above. Fantastic food, great staff and very clean. Scratch made with a lot of love. If you love lamb, you'll love theirs. Went back and had Gladys for a server. She was excellent. Never a problem here.

Yesterday we stopped at Sahara for lunch. The food was delicious and amazing staff. Very accommodating and prices are reasonable. The owner is a fantastic person, Naeema was incredibly kind, welcoming and even offered free food. We ordered the falafel platter and fried calamari. Highly recommend their deserts with the Turkish coffee.
